Held at Dockside in Darling Harbour back on December 10, BoxGrove finished with a rating of 97.59 per cent in the ceremony venues section, 1.75 per cent behind eventual winner Kangaroo Valley Bush Retreat.

BoxGrove was also a finalist in the reception venue category but was 3.52 per cent behind eventual winner Zest Waterfront Venues, Port Piper.

The popular wedding venue had previously won the ABIA award for best ceremony venue back in 2017.

BoxGrove co-owner Ben Fry said it was great to be recognised as one of the best wedding ceremony venues in the state.

"Obviously it sucked not to get the win but we're up there with some of the biggest and best names in metros and country areas," he said.

"It's really good to see our hard work pay off. We're family owned and we're family orientated and very family and customer focused here.

"We like to see that reflected in the experience we provide to our couples. It's also great to be recognised."

And on Sunday, BoxGrove will open its doors to the public for anyone that is thinking of getting married.

"We want to remind people that Bathurst is home to an award-winning venue," Mr Fry said.

"It's here to be hired and utilised by locals and from afar as well.

"This Sunday, we're offering people the opportunity to get out here and have a look. It's a chance for couples to come out and a look at the venue, ceremony options and reception space and see how you can utilise that.

"It's also about encouraging people to have a wedding at home and get other people to boost our local economic situation via tourism. If people and families come to visit Bathurst for weddings, it's really great to see them stay in town a few nights and spend money in the region.

"It's good for us, it's good for Bathurst and we just want to showcase our property to anyone that is interested."

BoxGrove's gates will be open from 11am to 3pm, with tours also running.

The land that BoxGrove is on at Duramana Road had previously served as a farm, bed and breakfast accomodation and event space, with Box Grove Farm originally bought and established in 1971.

In 2016, Mr Fry and his partner Kayla Atkins, alongside Ben and Kayla Bornen, joined together to redevelopment the land to create what is now the current BoxGrove wedding venue.
