Bulls are gearing up for a bumper clash with fellow top four team Cavaliers at George Park but Raveneau is likely to take to the field for second grade for the remainder of the season, though he's still free to play for first grade if needed.

Raveneau has a high opinion of the club's rising talent and wants to allow them the opportunity to showcase what they can do.

"It's a good young age group in this team, besides myself," he laughed.

"They're combining great and doing it at the right time. It's been a great year so far.

"I spoke to Kurt [Toole, captain] at the end of last year and said to him 'I'm getting a bit long in the tooth, I might drop back to second grade' because I'm 53 at the end of this month and I want the juniors to come through."

Bulls have the opportunity to draw level with Cavaliers at the top of the table with a win at home.

Doing so will require the Bathurst men to bring down some of the competition's leading players, such as leading run scorer Matt Corben plus bowlers Mitch Black and Angus Cumming.

Cavaliers currently share the lead with Orange City, who bested the Bulls earlier this season.

"Orange City were chasing nearly 280 against us, and I thought that was a fair score, but they got it only two down. That was a good effort and they deserves to be where they are," Raveneau said.

"Our boys can go well against Cavaliers. They just need to play their shots right and be a bit patient."

Cavaliers command favouritism given they brought an end to Orange City's unbeaten run before Christmas.

However, it would be an unwise move to play down the chances of a Bulls team riding high on a wave of enthusiasm.

Raveneau said it was a delight to witness the team's amazing opening half of the season after the side didn't even look like it would exist just a few months earlier.

"At the end of last season our team was folding. No-one wanted to take the reins. They call came through in October before the season started to try and get a team together and we managed to get around 13 players together," he said.

"I think a lot of people and teams around the community are a bit surprised at how well we're going.

"They continue to be a surprise pack. They've got three wins up now and they're right amongst it."

Even though Raveneau is taking a step down to second grade he's still not going to be far away from Centennials' first grade action on Saturday.

He's playing against Bathurst City on George Park 2 while the first grade Bulls-Cavs clash takes place up the hill on George Park 1.

In other BOIDC games this Saturday Orange City play City Colts, Kinross hosts Rugby Union, St Pat's Old Boys faces CYMS while Bathurst City welcomes Centrals to town.
