Lundholm had a laugh on Monday after seeing Adsum fly home and take victory at his home track.
Not only because Adsum was an $11 chance who had scored a something of a surprise win, but largely because he'd won yet another final race on the card.
In recent times Lundholm has developed a knack of taking out the last race of the day at Dubbo Turf Club and while he might have laughed about the most recent victory, the statistics are eye-catching.
Lundholm has been a part of 13 last races of the day at his home track since November of 2018.
He's won six of those and had four placings.
But the record since midway through last year is even more impressive.
Since July Lundholm has won five of the seven final events on the card he's contested, something which no doubt is starting to catch the eye of punters.
The run stretches back to November 20 of 2018, when Greg Ryan rode Any Blinkin Day to victory to bring the curtain down on the day.
He missed out on a handful of occasions following that before the trend really started to become a topic of conversation midway through last year.
On July 19 Ryan rode Sipharderson to victory in the last and at the club's next meeting Andrew Banks was in the saddle as Dusky Damsel took out the final event.
Wins with Sons Of Bourke, Rufio, Conspirator, and most recently, Adsum followed.
It appeared Lundholm's streak was in doubt on Monday as Adsum never looked like a winner for much of the trip.
A horse which has caused plenty of frustration due to his inconsistent performances, Adsum, was well back as the field entered the home straight in the Total Diesel Repairs Benchmark 58 Handicap (1400m).
But Greg Ryan got the five-year-old to move into the middle of the track and some almighty last strides saw him nab victory from Northern Conqueror ($18) and Travanti ($3.90 favourite).
"I was watching and I'd said to Greg 'hold him, just hold him'," Lundholm told Sky Thoroughbred Central after the race.
"I don't often tell Greg how to ride but he's been unlucky and missing runs. He [Ryan] rode him during the week and he actually bolted on him in trackwork so he was frustrated but he put it on the board today."
Not for the first time he had to wait until the final event to break through and punters will now no doubt have their eyes peeled at Dubbo Turf Club's next meeting, that one on February 3.
