Before CSU made the decision to switch from the Blowes Cup to the second-tier Central West Rugby Union competition, it was Bulldogs who held the edge in the Bathurst derby.
But when they meet again in May - the first clash between them since 2017 - CSU will hold favouritism.
The students' first XV will start 2020 as the defending premiers, while the Bulldogs outfit which has entered in the New Holland Cup will essentially be a third-grade team.
The Bulldogs first and second XV will still compete in the Blowes Cup.
The date of the Bathurst derby was not the only big match to be confirmed - Eastern Suburbs is set to return to Orange ahead of its local derby while the Blayney Rams are locked into a switch to the Oilsplus Cup.
Draws for the Blowes Clothing Cup, New Holland Agriculture Cup, Oilsplus Cup and South West competitions will be finalised this week, but are believed to be virtually locked away, with the same six sides returning to the top tier.
Both women's and colts draws will be confirmed in March once team numbers are confirmed.
Three Shute Shield games will be coming to the region in 2020, with a standalone contest on ANZAC Day in Cowra, when the Blowes Clothing Cup competition has a general bye.
Wade Park will again host an Eastern Suburbs home game, with West Harbour slated to play the Beasties on May 23 ahead of the Orange City and Emus derby under lights.
Mudgee will again host another Shute Shield match, this year on May 9, as Sydney Uni host Northern Suburbs at Glen Willow Stadium.
The Blowes Clothing Cup competition will kick off on April 18, with Dubbo Roos hosting Bathurst, Orange City travelling to Cowra and Emus hosting Forbes at Endeavour Oval in the opening round before a week off over ANZAC Day.
The competition-wide bye means Cowra's Shute Shield match will be standalone.
Bathurst Bulldogs won't have to wait long for a rematch of the 2019 grand final, with Orange Emus set to travel to Ashwood Park in round two on May 2, before the first Orange derby in May 5 as part of the Beastie's Shute Shield clash.
NSW County Championships will be held on June 6, leaving a competition-wide bye, with another week off after round 15 on August 15, giving a week between the end of the regular season and the start of finals.
The Blowes Clothing Cup grand final will be held on September 5.
Blayney Rams have confirmed a switch from the New Holland Agricultural Cup to the Oilsplus Cup and will face one of the longest roadtrips in the men's competition in its opening round as they travel to Coolah.
Trangie has also confirmed a return to the Oilsplus competition, while Coonabarabran won't take part.
Wellington and Geurie will line up in a grand final rematch in round two at Geurie.
Molong travels up the Mitchell Highway to open its campaign against Wellington before hosting Trangie, while Yeoval and Geurie clash in their opening round.
Finals will begin on August 8, with the grand final on August 22, which is the same date for the South West competition.
The slot left behind in the New Holland Agricultural Cup will be filled by a Bathurst Bulldogs side.
Bulldogs will clash with CSU for the first time in round two on May 2, a week after travelling to Narromine for one of the toughest and most highly-anticipated New Holland Cup games in recent memory.
Parkes hosts Mudgee in round one while Dubbo Rhinos hosts CSU in round one.
