Momentum, featuring Lauren Hagney and Dave Webb, performed around 70 gigs last year, finding themselves at a host of public and private events across NSW every single weekend.
For Hagney and Webb, the pair's dedication to gigging [both originals and covers] is fueled by a shared love of live performance.
"The originals are what we do creatively to fulfill ourselves but at the same time, we are working musicians who commit to every gig we're booked for," Hagney said.
"It's challenging to write songs around regular weekend gigs, work and family commitments, but it's all about finding a balance and prioritising your time."
Momentum released their debut album, Subtitles, in late 2018, which showcased their love of 80s rock and infectious power ballads.
Webb, who wrote and produced much of the music on Subtitles, said the album has received a positive response in the year since its launch.
"We've received a lot of positive feedback for the album, and its been pleasing to see the songs gain radio play," he said.
"Music in general is a never-ending challenge and while the cover gigs are fun and entertaining, we try to keep up that creative drive behind the scenes as much as we can."
Since the release of Subtitles, Momentum has been streamed on Spotify in 62 countries.
While the duo dedicated much of 2019 to gigs, they released a brand new single ['Let's Go'] in October to coincide with the Bathurst 1000.
"B-Rock gave the song plenty of radio play during race weekend, and it was also picked up by Laurie Daley's show," Hagney said.
"It was one of those 'spur-of-the-moment' songs that had a real race car vibe to it, and it was timely that the idea emerged mere weeks before the Bathurst 1000," Webb added.
Momentum has also become a regular fixture at weddings, and have won the Best Live Entertainment award at the Central West Brides Choice Awards two years in a row.
"We started off performing smaller weddings and in the last year, we've begun to offer full-day packages to suit a range of different ceremonies," Hagney said.
Momentum plans to spend 2020 working towards a second album, while also maintaining their commitment to weddings and various other gigs.
"We don't have any songs finished yet, but there's a solid album's worth of ideas there ready to polish and refine," Webb said.
