Margaret Allen (nee Learmonth), who received an OAM in the Queen's Birthday list in 2019, has many connections to Bathurst, according to her daughter Elizabeth Magner.
Mrs Allen represented Bathurst and NSW in cricket and hockey, and played in A grade teams at Bathurst, Inverell and Cowra, before returning to Bathurst Teachers' College as a lecturer in physical education from 1963 to 1969, Ms Magner said.
"At the close of 1969, she married the late Lionel John Allen, former principal of Bathurst Teachers' College, and moved to Springwood, where she still resides today," Ms Magner said.
"Margaret is the daughter of the late Ron and Edna Learmonth of Kelso and has a family connection to Learmonth Park.
"She is well-known by local contemporaries and ex-students of Bathurst High School."
Mrs Allen received her OAM for services to the community of the Blue Mountains.
