Debris falling from a truck travelling north of Parkes has tragically killed a woman who was a passenger in a car, alongside her family, driving in the opposite direction on Friday.

Emergency services were called to the Newell Highway at Alectown, about 25 kilometres north of Parkes, at 4pm on Friday following reports of an accident involving a truck and a Toyota Prado.
Central West Police District located a 38-year-old woman seriously injured and despite attempts to revive her, she died at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota, a 42-year-old man, and three boys - aged four, six and nine - were taken to Parkes Hospital as a precaution and have since been released.
The truck driver, a 52-year-old man, was also taken to Parkes Hospital for mandatory testing.
A crime scene has been established with officers from the Crash Investigation Unit investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
