The Artscene School of Arts, based in Sydney's north west, has been running an art school at CSU Bathurst twice a year for the past 30 years.
The latest edition, held in late January, featured 18 artist teachers over the week-long course and 140 participants.
A shop was set up for the week for locals as well as the participants and an artist exhibition was also a feature.
MAKING NEWS AROUND BATHURST:
Artscene marketing manager Adriana Abi-Rizk said a night is reserved at each of the arts schools to auction off an artwork and the proceeds go towards scholarships that provide a couple of spaces in the next workshops for those who cannot afford to come and are enduring hardship.
She said the Artscene team decided to transform the regular Thursday art auction into a fundraiser where all proceeds could be sent to the charity organisation BlazeAid, which helps communities rebuild after natural disasters.
Art tutors donated their time and creations for the cause and there were live painting performances.
Artworks were auctioned off by Bathurst mayor Bobby Bourke and the night ended up raising more than $15,000 for BlazeAid.
