Throughout 2019, the health district and Bathurst Health Service was working on a clinical services plan (CSP) for the Bathurst region to help with future planning.
Part of that process included meeting with members of the public and calling for feedback.
The director of WNSWLHD's Health Intelligence Unit, Maryanne Hawthorn, said the Bathurst CSP was now in the process of being finalised after submissions closed earlier this month.
"Around 25 submissions have been received, in addition to feedback received during the public and staff briefing sessions," she said.
"The feedback is extremely valuable in ensuring we have a plan that best responds to the needs of the community into the future."
Ms Hawthorn couldn't provide a timeframe of when the final version of the CSP will be released, but did say there would be further consultation to come.
"The CSP is critical in guiding the growth of the Bathurst Health Service, and there'll be further consultation with staff, the Bathurst Health Council, industrial associations, Bathurst Regional Council and other community groups to ensure it achieves a collaborative outcome for the residents of Bathurst and surrounding areas," she said.
Late last year, the chairman of the WNSWLHD board, Scott Griffiths PSM, admitted that Bathurst was let down by the planning of the $98 million hospital redevelopment in 2008.
He said also told the local action group that he would be pursuing a master plan for the hospital.
Ms Hawthorn said the health district was continuing to engage with key stakeholders to formalise a plan.
"Alongside the CSP, the district is engaged with the Bathurst Regional Council, the Department of Premer and Cabinet, Charles Sturt University and other local stakeholders to formalise a health precinct plan by the end of 2020," she said.
