"We had a segregated playground - boys on one side and girls on the other," she remembered this week.
Female students at Bathurst High in the 1960s also had to kneel down and have the length of their "serge-type tunic" measured to ensure it wasn't any higher than allowed above the knees.
"It was very Victorian," Ms Tobin said of attitudes at the time.

The ex-students will be wearing what they please and mingling freely when they get together early next month for a school reunion in a year in which most of them are turning 70.
The reunion - for the class that started at Bathurst High in 1963 and finished in 1968 - will feature a walk through the school with principal Ken Barwick and a celebratory Saturday night dinner with entertainment provided by the ex-students themselves.
"We're hoping to have about 70 [attend]," Ms Tobin said.
"We have had a lot contact us, but not a lot have come back and paid their money at this stage, which we really need for the dinner on the Saturday night so we can give exact numbers."
The reunion will start on Friday, March 6 with an informal get-together at the Oxford Hotel and continue on Saturday, March 7 with the walk through the school and then dinner that night at the Greens on William.
"Among the boys that were in our year, some formed a band," Ms Tobin said. "Three of them will be there [at the dinner] and we're hoping they may get together and play a few numbers."
Another ex-student, who now lives in the Blue Mountains, plays the harp and sings, Ms Tobin said, and might also provide entertainment.
Ms Tobin said a table will be set up with the names of those from the class of 1963-68 who have passed away so they can be remembered.
Those who want to attend the reunion are asked to RSVP by Friday, February 14 to Helen Curzon on 0403 192 116.
