Your editorial relating to Margaret Court and Tennis Australia was both disappointing and ill-directed.
Gone are the days where people who enjoy great privilege and success, as Margaret Court has for her sporting prowess, can be celebrated with no regard for their extremely problematic and dangerous public views.
For us to progress and live in a harmonious society there should and must be consequences for the hurt that hate speech causes.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Those consequences should include, for example, not having important sporting venues named after you; and not being celebrated as a national champion.
Your disapproval of McEnroe and Navratilova is unwarranted.
They have taken the just stance in continuing to lend support to the LGBTQI community, and that makes them bigger superstars and champions than homophobic, transphobic Margaret Court will ever be.
