Severe weather warnings were issued for heavy rain and damaging winds for much of the coast and the Blue Mountains, with thousands of residents evacuated across Sydney on Sunday evening.

Lithgow received by far the most rain on the weekend with 45.4 millimetres recorded, this was followed by Forbes (21.0mm), Dubbo (19.8mm) and Oberon (19.0mm)

Rain was also recorded in Goulburn (16.0mm), Parkes (14.8mm) and Young (10.2mm).

All other locations received less than 10mm across the weekend, including: Orange (8.8mm), Cowra (7.8mm), Mudgee (6.8mm), Bathurst (2.8mm) and Cootamundra (2.1mm).

Also on the weekend, almost 300mm of rain in the Blue Mountains caused damage to the railway tracks forcing the immediate cancellation of all trains on this service for the foreseeable future.

State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers in Bathurst were called to number of trees down across roads on the weekend.

Dubbo has already recorded above average rainfall, and is the only town in the region to do so, with 53.6mm of rain which is above the February median of 40.5mm

More rain is predicted for the region this week, with showers possible most days until Friday.
