That's what Bathurst man Bill Kierath says of a scam text message he received recently that he wants locals to know is going around.
The text message sends the receiver to a website page that says "your package is ready to be shipped", but $2 in postage cost remains to be paid.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The website page says this $2 payment "must be completed within 24 hours".
The page has the Australia Post logo on the top of it, has an option to track the package and contains a section with frequently asked questions, so looks professional.
There is even an "online security and scams" section down the bottom of the page among options such as "terms and conditions" and "about our site".
Mr Kierath said he checked with Bathurst Post Office, which confirmed the text message and linked website page were not legitimate.
He said his understanding is that credit card details will be gathered if the person who receives the scam text tries to pay the $2 that is supposedly outstanding.
"These things are becoming extremely clever," he said of this latest scam.
An Australia Post spokesperson said Australia Post monitors for, and posts updates on new scams on its website and social channels, and regularly trains its staff to spot scams and help customers if they have any concerns.
"We strongly advise people against clicking any links in such texts or making any payments, and that they delete the SMS," the spokesperson said.
"We remind people that Australia Post will never contact anyone via SMS asking for personal information, financial information or to make a payment.
"Our staff receive regular training and updates on the importance of vigilance in relation to scams and ways to help people if they have any concerns.
"People who have received a phishing scam can contact us on 13 POST or visit our website for more information."
