On the back of last week's news Blayney lost key signing and former NRL player Siosaia Vave for the 2020 Group 10 season, the deal Craig and Grant Garvey agreed to with Cowra has fallen through.
Cowra coach Steve Sutton said Craig Garvey approached the club last week after he received, what Sutton says is, "a better offer" from another bush club in Newcastle, an offer the Magpies couldn't match.
As a result Cowra won't block Garvey's sudden move to the coast.
Sutton said he wasn't sure if Craig's brother Grant would also be making the move.
The experienced Magpies mentor said losing a player of the calibre of Craig - he's played NRL games at St George Illawarra and Canterbury - was a touch disappointing.
But he said the club's approach to the new season hasn't changed.
"You win some and lose some ... we lost this one," he said.
"We'll work with what we've got. We're always open, but it's tough this time of year."
There's still opportunity for the blokes we've got in our squad at the moment

Sutton said any potential new recruits would hopefully be able to move to Cowra.
"Ideally we'd like people to move here, but being a small country town that can be tough as well," he added.
"There's still opportunity for the blokes we've got in our squad at the moment."
