PUBlic Choir began in March 2018 as a means to create a relaxed and engaging environment for people to sing as a group.
Conservatorium executive director Graham Sattler said the initiative promotes a shared love of singing.
"It's all about people from a variety of backgrounds coming together to learn something new," Mr Sattler said.
"We teach participants how to harmonise, and it's very much about empowering members of the community to become performers."
Mr Sattler said each song is chosen on the basis of a popular vote from the choir's participants.
"We put a selection of songs to a Facebook poll each month and the track that receives the most votes is the one we learn," he said.
"Over the last two years, we've performed songs from numerous generations of music, from the 1950s to the 2000s."
The PUBlic Choir spent their first gathering on Tuesday night learning the Sir Elton John classic 'Your Song,' building on from the success of the music legend's recent gig in Bathurst.
Mr Sattler said the choir is inclusive of a wide range of vocal types and abilities.
"This choir isn't about attracting pitch-perfect voices, everyone can sing regardless of their skill level," he said.
"Singing in a group not only helps enhance your vocal abilities, it offers an attractive social outlet to meet new people."
PUBlic Choir attracts, on average, 60 participants each month, and the group performed at last year's Carols by Candlelight.
Conservatorium publicity officer Lauren Hagney has played a vital role in the promotion of PUBlic Choir, and said the initiative has gone from strength to strength.
"We have quite a regular following now, and it's fair to say some people are quite surprised with their abilities as vocalists," Ms Hagney said.
"The choir has performed everything from The Beatles to Hunters and Collectors, and we can't wait to see what comes next."
PUBlic Choir is always open to new participants looking to try their hand at a new activity.
