SES media officer, Zeak Smith, said the role of SES volunteers is varied. Most recently in Bathurst they've come to the assistance of home owners, who have had property damaged in storms. On a wider level, volunteers have traveled to assist fire and flood ravaged regions across the state.
Mr Smith said the work volunteers do is varied; anything from assisting in emergencies, such as vertical and road crash rescues, missing persons searches, and medical evacuations.
Mr Smith said the recruitment and information night will feature demonstrations and giveaways, and was the perfect time for anyone interested in the SES to come and learn a little more about the unit.
"The service will help you develop some exciting skills and qualification free of charge in area such as leadership, incident management, rescue skills, first aid and many others.
"The night will inform you of the many different pathways and avenues within the service as well as what it's like to be an SES volunteer."

"We are looking for volunteers from all levels of the spectrum, whether it's someone who wants to get heavily involved in rescue, or is more interested in working in the incident control room."
He said the unit is also looking specialist volunteers, which can include anything from people with a background in accounting to marketing, who utilise their skills within the unit.
