There was plenty of buzz around Sunday's meeting between the only remaining unbeaten clubs in the division one competition, and it certainly delivered the close matchups people were expecting at Cowra Golf Club.
With the exception of a thumping 6 and 4 victory for Bathurst's Cameron Jackson over Peter Dawson the games were all decided in the final few holes.
Team captain Darryn Bruce made the most of his call up to the Bathurst side in the absence of David Clemens as he claimed a two hole victory over Daniel Bayley.
Forbes' Shane Sallaway kept his team in the contest with a two hole success against Stephen McDonald but the pressure was still piled on John and Steve Betland to deliver a comeback win.
But Bathurst's number one and two, Reece Hodson and Justin Sutton, were up for the challenge.
Hodson accounted for John Betland by two holes and Sutton was too strong for Steve Betland in a one hole win.
Hodson said it was close to a perfect day, one which may prove to be the decisive match of the season.
"It was a really solid effort by everyone. Our fearless captain had to fill in for us and he performed well. Steve unfortunately went down on the last hole but it was a great effort from him," Hodson said.
"Cameron Jackson played well to win 6 and 4 and there were great battles between myself and John and Steve and Justin. We knew it was going to be a tough one but we usually play well at Cowra.

"Justin got on top early and managed to stay there. I battled with John all day and hung in there. There were some big clutch putts made towards the end which turned the tide in my favour, and managed to go from one down to one up within four holes."
Bathurst's leading junior player Jackson continued to show he's one of the top under 18s players in the region with his big win.
"Cam's growing in leaps in bounds," Hodson said.
"He's had some really good wins, which has really helped his confidence and boosted our team a lot."
Bathurst has the bye next round as the club welcomes the top division's other six teams to the course this Sunday.
The title will go Bathurst's way with wins against in-form opponents Duntryleague and Mudgee in their remaining two games.
There was no joy for Bathurst in other divisions.
Divisions two and four went down in close 3-2 results against Mudgee while division two lost 4-1 to the same opponent.
