A MAN has been punched in the head during an assault and robbery in Machattie Park in an incident that is now under investigation by police.

Officers attached to the Chifley Police District say the assault occurred on Tuesday evening in the city centre park
"About 9.30pm on Tuesday evening two males set upon a 56-year-old man demanding money from him," police said.
"The man was punched to the head several times before the offenders ran off as police approached the scene."
Officers said closed circuit television (CCTV) footage will be viewed in order to identify the offenders.
Police have also called on any member of the public who may have witnessed the incident to contact Bathurst detectives on 6332 8699 or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
