We manage to have an opinion on everything - and no, that's not a bad thing. In fact, it's what makes this town so great - the fact that its residents are so vocal in voicing their concerns should make Bathurst proud.
Residents sincerely care about how Bathurst performs across multiple functions.
That brings me to my point. There seems to be a misconception that local councils are made up of career politicians and that the average Joe would not have the qualifications or the experience to participate.
This could not be further from the truth.
Anyone can run for council, including you!
Mothers, fathers, business owners, teachers, retail clerks, young and old: these are the faces we need to see in council - the proactive people within the community, the people who contribute and form part of the Bathurst dynamic on a daily basis.
Let 2020 be the year that real people put their hand up, give it their best, and contribute to the Bathurst story.
Let September be the biggest candidate list this town has seen; let's see our friends, family, colleagues and neighbours across campaign flyers, because a good balance of age, gender and experience will no doubt serve us best.
