And from Tuesday to Thursday, that's what most farmers across the Bathurst region received.
Limekilns farmer Jerome Carberry received over 50mm of rain across the three days at his property almost 30km north of Bathurst.
"It's been beautiful," he said.
"It's fallen lightly and it's been nice and misty. It hasn't filled up all the dams but it's soaked the ground, which has given us good subsoil moisture.
"The rain has a made a lot of different, especially helping out our underground water with our bores."
Mr Carberry had already recorded 219mm at his property this year, which is well over a third of his total of 544mm from last year.
"This rain has fallen at the right time because we've been sowing oats," he said.
"They were coming up before the rain and now that we've got this rain, it should make for a good crop come autumn and winter."
Mr Carberry has 700 ewes on his 450-hectare property, with another 350 lambs, but this is down from a normal run of 1800-2000 before the drought.
He previously had cattle, but sold all that was left back in October.
Glanmire farmer Michael Inwood said he's also enjoyed the recent rain.
"It's been very good, a nice steady drop," he said.
"When it comes in quick and fast, it's no good for the soil because it can cause erosion."
He received almost 50mm in three days and is hoping for more steady, soaking rain in the weeks to come.
"We just finished sowing the oats so this rain has been ideal but we need this soaking rain in the longevity because the soil is dry at the moment and we need the moisture in the ground to help us get through," he said.
Since Tuesday, the official recording of rainfall out at the Bathurst Airport was 47.4mm, bringing the city's total rainfall for 2020 to 169.2mm.
There's no significant rainfall forecast for Bathurst in the next week, however, there's a chance of a possible shower on Saturday.
