Bathurst Regional Council confirmed the Bathurst Cycling Classic would go ahead in a statement around midday on Friday and followed that up with another confirmation late in the afternoon.
The classic is set to draw around 2000 cyclists for the various events on the weekend, including the B2B long and short courses on Sunday, which will start and end in William Street.
Hill climb and criterium events will take place at Mount Panorama on Saturday.
The event will also include a village set up in Machattie Park on both days, featuring street food, a pop-up bar and live music from a variety of local artists.
Bathurst Regional Council and Cycling NSW are following advice from the NSW Government on the outbreak of coronavirus, council said.
"For competitors in this weekend's Bathurst Cycling Classic and spectators we ask that you follow the advice provided by NSW Health, as the responsible agency, in management of coronavirus," council said in a statement.
Council said competitors experiencing flu-like symptoms may wish to reconsider attending the event.
Council said all food vendors had been asked to have hand sanitiser.
Meanwhile, authorities urged the community to remain sensible after confirmation three Orange residents tested positive to coronavirus.
Western NSW Local Health District said fever clinics had been established at Orange and there were plans being activated to cater for changes in demand.
A Western NSW LHD spokesperson said the individuals who tested positive to coronavirus acted in accordance with advice on self-isolation and will remain in isolation until deemed no longer infectious.
