The centre closed on Wednesday until at least Tuesday, April 14.
Ms Ashworth said the decision was made to protect the centre's "vulnerable clients, carers, families, volunteers and staff" from the risk of contracting coronavirus.

She said a board of management meeting on Tuesday agreed that closure was the best option, and although there were no known cases of coronavirus at the centre, safeguarding clients was a priority.

Ms Ashworth said a telephone service was available for anyone concerned: 6332 1449.
"We realise this short notice may inconvenience some clients and carers, but we cannot maintain social distancing, and we often have a lot more than 10 people at a time on the premises," she said.
"We are planning on how to manage supports which our clients may require and this may include the home delivery of food, medicines, other care items plus regular phone calls.
"At this stage most of the full-time staff will find other work within the centre, and volunteers are already excluding themselves from contact with clients and staff."
She said a decision on when to reopen will be discussed by the board just before the Easter break.
