I am the new chairperson of the Bathurst Regional Access Committee (BRAC) and I was a vice chair under Bob Triming.
I was very disappointed in the front page article last week featuring Bob criticising the access to the new Bathurst Rail Museum.
The footpath to the museum is on the next list of measures to be undertaken by Bathurst Regional Council.
I was informed by [cultural and community services director] Alan Cattermole that it had not been appropriate to lay the footpath in time for the opening as trucks were still entering the site, which would have damaged a newly laid footpath.

I understand Bob had been provided the same information.
Now to the new Bathurst Rail Museum.
Vicki Fallon (secretary), Blake Aubin (vice chair) and myself were invited guests of the council to view the new museum on Tuesday, March 10.
I cannot express enough the fantastic job the council and experts in their field have done in the detail, care and expertise in the building and fitting out of the museum.
In my opinion, it is on par with the ground floor of the current Powerhouse Museum.
Everyone has been catered for, from the magnificent children's play area to the conserved sections of the old Railway Institute, the Ben Chifley memorabilia, historical information, a complete model railway of the Tarana/Brewongle area, plus much more.
The outside area consists of a lovely coffee shop, children's outdoor play area on artificial turf and a train carriage where you can enjoy your coffee out of the weather.
I encourage all Bathurstians, their friends and family to visit.
