But Kelso's Barry Conwell is one very happy man after Crop Top recorded her second win since joining his kennel.
Expectations weren't through the roof for the Magic Sprite bitch in her new home but she continues to impress.
Crop Top ($2.60 favourite) lead from start to finish in Monday's GBOTA Members Swipe And Win Comp Stakes (307 metres) to add to her win in late January.
Conwell's runner used her inside box well and got away to a flying start on Monday, as did outside runner Arrogant Dusty ($10).
Drunken Tabetha ($3.80) found her stride after and average start and closed in on Crop Top around the turn for home.
Crop Top had plenty left to give over the closing 100 metres and slightly extended her margin back out to 1.75 lengths at the winning post.
Her winning time was 17.90 seconds, .08 quicker than her previous career win over the same distance.
Arrogant Dusty ran on soundly to finish third.
Conwell has been thrilled by the progress Crop Top has shown in her short time with him.
"She was a giveaway. I've had her for seven starts now and she's had two wins, one second and two thirds," he said.
"She's always a good box dog, and I've got to put that down to her dietitian, [wife] Tania. She's a great dog in the kennels."
Given her success at 307 metres Conwell is likely to keep Crop Top running over the sprint distance.
Victories at Monday's meeting were spread out between connections as 10 different trainers took out the 10 races on offer.
