Graham believes the re-formation of the BOIDC was received well by teams, and the competition has given Bathurst teams food for thought after just one of the district's club - St Pat's Old Boys - reached the top four.

"I think certainly the Bathurst club can walk away feeling like they've learned a lot more," he said.

"A few players that I've spoken to believe that the Orange clubs were a lot more switched on when it came to this competition. Hopefully they'll learn from it."

Orange City were declared the competition premiers after defeating Cavaliers in the major semi-final, before the season was called off due to the coronavirus spread.

Getting a read on all the teams is a difficult task considering many matches were lost to rain and heat as well.

While Graham hasn't gone through a rigorous post-season discussion with Bathurst clubs he believes the general sentiment towards the two-district competition is positive.

"There's probably some lessons to learned and a possible re-jig for next season and after further feedback, maybe midway through the offseason, we'll have a meeting with the clubs to discuss that. Overall for a first season I think it was a huge success," he said.

"It's probably what the two associations needed. I think the teams can concur that they had to play better cricket this season, otherwise they could get hammered. It was a really even competition."

Much time was spent during the build up to the re-formed competition about what its match structure should look like.

The addition of Centennials Bulls to the lineup helped the competition avoid byes every round, and it helped organisers draw up nine rounds of two day cricket.

The two format rewarded teams who valued their wickets and constructed strong partnerships week in and week out.

And there's no denying the two teams who did that the best, Orange City and Cavaliers, were the ones left fighting for the grand final spot.
