In the past fortnight, Bathurst fuel prices have dropped by around 10 to 15 cents per litre.
ALSO MAKING NEWS: Which Bathurst restaurants and cafes are still open for business
For the week ending March 21, Bathurst's average price for unleaded fuel was 128.1 cents per litre, and prices have fallen further since.
NRMA spokesperson Bridget Ahern said it was fantastic news for Bathurst motorists.
"At the moment, I can see that the prices are hovering at about $1.20, which is really very much in line with what we were expecting to see," she said.
"In terms of how they compare with Sydney, they are a couple of cents higher than they are in Sydney, but the good news is that in Sydney we're still seeing prices sometimes in the $1.50s, which for [the NRMA] really isn't good enough.
"In Bathurst, I can see that there's really not that much variety in fuel prices."
The recent falls can be attributed to global oil prices being the lowest seen since December 2003, due to a number of factors.
These include the expansion of coronavirus cases across 169 countries and the ongoing stoush between Saudi Arabia and Russia, with both nations intending to flood the global market with excess supply.
Oil prices aren't expected to fall any further, but regional areas could see their petrol prices drop again.
"We think we've bottomed out at the moment, so we're not expecting to see anymore falls. That's not to say that regional areas might not see a few more falls over the next little while, simply because these changes do take a little while to trickle through to the regional areas," Ms Ahern said.
As prices are expected to remain this low for a while, there is no reason for motorists to rush out to buy fuel.
However, they are encouraged to look at fuel prices from retailer to retailer before filling up, to ensure they are maximising savings.
Late this week, the cheapest unleaded fuel was at the two Metros, the Stockland Drive Caltex and 7-Eleven Kelso, all offering 120.5 cents per litre.
For diesel, the best price was 129.7 cents per litre, seen at the Metros and the Stockland Drive Caltex.
