The latest update, released on Monday morning, said there had been four new confirmed case across the Western NSW Local Health District, taking the total to 44.
Two new positive results in the Cabonne local government area have taken its total to five, while there was one new case in Orange (for a total of 10) and the Parkes local government area has recorded its first case of COVID-19.
There have also been nine coronavirus cases confirmed in the Bathurst LGA, six in Dubbo, four in Mid-Western, three in Blayney, two in Coonamble and one each in the Narromine, Warren, Warrumbungle and Weddin LGAs.
Eight people across the western region have recovered from the virus.
Data from NSW Health shows that, as of 8pm on Sunday, there had been 2562 coronavirus tests conducted in the Western NSW Local Health District at a rate of 900 per 100,000 head of population.
Western NSW has been conducting tests at a greater rate per head of population than the Murrumbidgee and Greater West regions, but about half the rate as COVID-19 hotspots such as South Eastern Sydney and Northern Sydney.
Western NSW so far has just 15 positive results for every 100,000 population.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for NSW Health said it was critical that all residents continued to practise social distancing to minimise the risk of transmitting COVID-19.
"This is important for everyone, but particularly for older people and people with health conditions that make them more vulnerable," the spokesperson said.
"It's also important that we protect our health care workers who we need to stay well to provide care to people who become sick with COVID-19."
NSW Health says all residents should stay at home unless it is "absolutely essential" to go out, and should always remember to:
- Clean their hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, or an alcohol-based hand rub.
- Cover their nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing with tissue or a flexed elbow.
- Avoid close contact with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms.
- Stay home if they are sick
- Keep their distance from others as much as possible through social distancing.
