After an uncertain period in recent weeks it's been confirmed the Bathurst Tennis Club can still continue operating, albeit in a much-reduced capacity.
The club are unable to run any club competitions but can offer non-group coaching and still provide court hire under specific conditions.
Bathurst Tennis Club general manager Andrew Mitton said it's been a wildly uncertain period for the club during the coronavirus outbreak but is pleased to keep doors open.
"We were recommended to close Friday the week before, then the government announced golf and tennis would close officially on a Monday but then were told we could open again on Thursday
"We only reopened last weekend, but at a real minimal process. We can't run comps or have groups. We can have only private lessons. Families can book in groups of four and social court hire is only for two people."
Mitton said the reaction to keeping the club open has received a mix of opinions but believes it's in the interest of people's wellbeing that they can have the opportunity to play under the restrictions.

"It's a confusing time where you're not allowed to go in your car for a drive but you are allowed to come down to the tennis centre and play," he said.

"It does fit the recreational side of things, which benefits mental wellbeing, and we support the decision which is why we're opening.
"We do get criticism, don't get me wrong. People have asked us 'what are you doing?' but it's hard when you're following what they want you to do but you still get criticised for it."
