During a recent meeting between the association's schools it was determined that no sport would be able to get underway during the upcoming second term, and a term three date was agreed upon.

It's a big blow for all students who had been working hard towards the season, and a bigger blow for those year 12 students looking forward to their last year of sport.

In a recent release online the ISA stated that they were closely monitoring and managing the safety of their students in line with NSW Department of Health guidelines.

"As of Friday 27th March 2020, all ISA sporting events scheduled for Term two have been cancelled including Saturday competitions," the statement read.

"As this is an evolving situation, events scheduled for term three will be assessed closer to the time of the event and schools will be notified if the event is postponed, cancelled or other arrangements are put in place."

ISA had several ideas put forward for how an amended winter sport draw could be put together.

In the end they settled for the latest possible option from those tabled, and Saint Stanislaus' College's head of sport David Burke believes it was the right call.

"The last time we met as a group as heads of sport there were three options flagged for when we could resume," he said.

"The last of those was a start in term three and the uplifting thing was that everyone present was all on the same page with trying to get something happening from a winter sport perspective in term three

"What that would look like is extending the season into the athletics season by about three weeks, and that way we'd get a seven round season in, which would cover all games from an ISA Rugby perspective."

Scots All Saints head of college John Weeks supports the direction local sporting associations have taken in postponing winter sports.

"We are working collaboratively with the ISA and other schools to work towards a short-term sports competitions. For example, seven weeks of rugby in term three - depending on travel restrictions and social distancing measures," he said.

"Our campuses are fortunate to have open spaces, a large number of sporting ovals, facilities and swimming pools so we will be able to move very quickly to re-engage our students in these sporting activities, strength and conditioning programs and fun games as soon as we are able.

"An internal Scots All Saints College sports gala day is planned to be held later this year where we can organise internal events such as cross country, athletics so our students don't miss out on these important physical and social events or miss out on the usual annual sports accolades, honour boards and awards ceremonies.

"As soon as we can get back together again, we are very keen to invite our College community together for some active school events, such as a College walk-athon to raise funds for charity and support our Year 12 end of year functions."
