AS we approach our first long weekend in our strange new world, I want to remind our community members that our team will be working around the clock as normal to keep our residents and clients safe and happy and I call on each of you to do your bit and help us stop the spread of COVID-19.

As CEO of Royal Freemasons' Benevolent Institution (RFBI), I am very proud of the hard work our teams are doing to care for our residents and clients.
As people, and members of this local community, our staff are experiencing the same emotional turbulence we are all feeling, dealing with the same uncertainties.
IN OTHER NEWS:
However, as frontline health care workers, they cannot stay at home and wait for this to pass.
Our staff are playing a vitally important role keeping our residents and clients well cared for, safe and happy. And they are doing an amazing job of it.
You may have heard that over the past month we have taken a number of precautionary measures over and above what the government has mandated. None of these decisions have been made lightly.
We have taken these measures because our experience and expertise in infectious disease control tells us that this is what is needed to minimise the spread of coronavirus within our villages and, importantly, within our community.
It is also the best way we can protect our residents, clients and staff.
While we wait for this to pass, and it will pass, I would like to let our community members know that life in our Villages is good.
We understand the importance of keeping active, so we are expanding our activities program and are increasing our Leisure and Lifestyle teams.
Our families may not be able to visit right now, but that doesn't mean they can't stay connected with their loved one. Our teams are facilitating telephone calls, video chats and good old-fashioned letters.
They are also getting creative and coming with some great innovative ways to keep our residents engaged and active. Check out our website to read about them.
Our frontline health workers are our true heroes and I want to thank each and every one of them for what they are doing to help keep our loved ones safe.
From our RFBI Family to yours, stay safe, look after yourselves and your families, demonstrate restraint and together we will not only get through this period but I believe that as a community we will be so much stronger.
