Live music may be on hiatus at the moment due to the COVID-19 situation, but it hasn't stopped prominent local act The Safety of Life at Sea from pushing ahead with new material.

The group, featuring Kris Schubert, Lian Wong, Stephen Helman and Tony Bibby, released 'Get Serious' last week, a fun, danceable number showcasing their strong, Motown-influenced groove.
'Get Serious' is the group's first single since 'Christmas Is Here' off the charity festive record 'Dreaming of a Green Christmas,' and will be included on the group's upcoming third album.
Schubert said the song has been floating around for a while, and has already been performed live.
"The song has been in my head for a number of years, so it's great to finally be able to put it out there for everyone," he said.
"It was written around the time Lian and I were expecting our son, Elliott, and it took on a brand new life when we brought it to the band."
The song was released with a vibrant music video, which features a number of familiar faces from the local music scene dancing to a routine choreographed by Maddi Fawcett.
Schubert said the original idea for the video was to get everyone together but due to the COVID-19 restrictions, participants sent in videos of themselves dancing in their living rooms.
"It turned into a completely different video from what we envisioned, but we're really happy with the end result," he said.
"Maddi did such a fantastic job in putting together the dance routine, and we're still getting videos of people doing their own version of the dance."
The video for 'Get Serious' has, thus far, received over 5400 views on Facebook.
In light of the COVID-19 situation, Schubert said the song and video has offered something joyful for local music fans in need of some cheer.
"Although we're all isolated, we still need to have a good time, and it was nice to see everyone in the music video laughing and having fun," he said.
Despite the restrictions, Schubert said the group's new album is still on track for release later this year.
"We commenced the mixing process prior to social distancing and with Stephen and Tony based in Sydney, we've always had to work around isolation from a geographical perspective."
