The new business, called Can Do Cuts, opened yesterday in the centre, bring a sense of familiarity back to a store front known for its hairdressing excellence over the years.
While the business is new, it is being managed by a familiar local face in Jenny Gleeson, who has nearly five decades of experience as a hairdresser in the Bathurst community.
"I'd been working at a local barbers in Bathurst for the last 10 years and when this opportunity came up, I couldn't resist," Ms Gleeson said.
"The aim is to provide a warm, comfortable and friendly hair salon offering quality, affordable haircuts."
Ms Gleeson said she's able to do any male or female haircut, and offers a variety of different styles for people to try out.
"I'm able to offer everything from fades to star cuts, trims to colours and haircuts for children," she said.
"Within reason, I can offer essentially any hair style you want."
Ms Gleeson has taken a courageous step to open a business during COVID-19, and said it's been an interesting process.
"It's a bit scary, and I've had a few sleepless nights, but it comes down to that simple choice: you either do it or you don't," she said.
"I'm following precautions as much as possible to give people that peace of mind and as I'm working here alone, there's only ever one-on-one bookings."
Can Do Cuts is the fourth business to open at Kelso Centrepoint in the last year, alongside a bakery, tobacconist and a laundromat.
Kelso Centrepoint owner Praba Kulasegaram said it's encouraging to see the centre's regrowth continue.
"Every shop front is occupied again, and the fact that we're running out of parking spaces is a pleasing sign for the centre," Mr Kulasegaram said.
"Kelso is certainly growing, and it's great to see a number of new businesses complementing old favourites such as Kelso FoodWorks, Allens Quality Meats and the newsagency."
Mr Kulasegaram purchased the centre in 2018 and has owned Kelso FoodWorks for nearly 15 years.
