Prices have been rapidly falling in Bathurst in recent weeks, a trend being seen across the state due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on global demand for oil.
Last week, a number of petrol retailers in Bathurst were offering unleaded fuel for around 92 cents per litre.
Now, the price has dropped around 10 cents, with new retailer Pearl Energy offering this variety for 83.5 cents per litre.
NRMA spokesperson Bridget Ahern said it was great news for Bathurst motorists.
"Bathurst is fairing very well compared to other regional areas at the moment," she said.
"You guys are really lucky that there is a very competitive fuel market in Bathurst. There is not one [retailer] in the general Bathurst area that is selling for more than 91.9 cents, which is fantastic news."
While many retailers are offering low prices, she said it was still important to shop around for the best deal, particularly when there is a retailer in Eglinton still selling unleaded for around 150 cents per litre.
"That is so far above where petrol prices should be sitting at the moment that it is ridiculous," Ms Ahern said.
It's unknown whether petrol prices will fall across the board any further in Bathurst, but Ms Ahern said there is a possibility of the more expensive retailers dropping their prices to be in line with their competitors.
The NRMA has also welcomed the introduction of another independent retailer in the Bathurst market, Pearl Energy, which is already proving to be quite competitive.
Ms Ahern said the additional competition can bring about lower prices across the regional city.
Pearl Energy not only has the best price for unleaded at the moment, but also offers the best prices for both diesel (107.9 cents per litre) and e10 (81.5 cents per litre).
