While there is still much uncertainty surrounding the 2020 Supercars series, Greg Murphy leaves no doubt that he wants the iconic qualifying session at Mount Panorama to go ahead.
For the Kiwi star who won the Bathurst 1000 four times before retiring, the chance to have the famous 6.213 kilometre circuit to yourself and clock a one-lap flyer is something all Supercars drivers should aspire to.
"I think it's one of the most amazing sessions in the whole calendar through the whole year to be a part of and if you're not in it, you're a loser," Murphy said.
"Every time someone says 'Oh, it's a long race tomorrow, I'm not on pole, I'm down the field or I'm ninth it's a long race tomorrow and I'll do my best', load of rubbish.
"It's about being on pole at Bathurst and the shootout, that's what it's all about. If you're not thinking about being on pole and putting 100 percent into it, then you shouldn't be there."
One of the most iconic moments of Murphy's career - what was dubbed the 'Lap of the Gods' - came in the 2003 shootout.
He became the first Supercars driver to go below the 2:07 mark as he clocked a two minutes, 06.8594 effort to claim pole.
It drew a standing ovation from the crowd.

Supercars has stated it wants to Bathurst 1000 to go ahead in its usual October time slot this year. The Saturday afternoon shootout would be part of that.
Dates for Supercars rounds, and whether spectators will be permitted, are still uncertain. But the Bathurst shootout, whenever it is held, is still something all drivers will want to be a part of.
"It is the ultimate lap of your life, you go around that circuit, the spotlight is on you, you can't afford to make a mistake, the excitement as a driver knowing you've made the 10 and you're going to start in the 10 for the biggest race of your life," Craig Lowndes said.
