JOHN Eccles' letter ("Beauty is sacrificed by all the non-native obsessives", May 6) has prompted me to ask about the trees planted beside CSU opposite Forestry and the LPI on Panorama Avenue.

They appear to be poplars too.
Of the 16 planted a couple of years ago, about half are now dead.
Roads and Maritime Services is apparently going to plant poplars next to the road up to Raglan.
Are they the same as the ones taken down in Jacques Park?
