The owner of Anderson Motorsport has made the decision to run his team in the Super2 Series this year, a category which basically acts as a reserve grade to Supercars.
Last season Anderson ran his team in the Super3 series, with driver Jayden Ojeda posting four wins on his way to finishing second in the championship.
It showed what the team is capable of and though Anderson acknowledged it is a huge step moving up to Super2, he knows he has the support to make it a success.
"It's a very big leap, it's the tier before Supercars, but once racing goes back to whatever racing is going to be, it should be okay," he said.
"We'd been running Super3 for a while, we ran Jayden last year and the team worked very well in preparation and had everything in the car running as a team, so I thought we'd have a shot at it.
"An opportunity came up with Walkinshaw Andretti United to run basically a shadow off them, they are going to help us out with some technical data, they've given us en engine program.
"The main part about that was Chaz Mostert, I'm good mates with him, and his engineer Adam De Borre are working with us as well as driver coaches and helping engineering.
"They was a couple of the key things that made the decision a bit easier, to have Chaz and Adam involved firsthand, we will have all our engineering team involved anyway, but it's nice to have someone like Adam come in with his engineering expertise to help out."
Walkinshaw Andretti United has also provided Anderson Motorsport with a new chassis to run in the Super2 series.
It is the Car of the Future Holden Commodore chassis formerly used by James Courtney
"There's a lot of pedigree in the car we've got now too, it won the Clipsal 500, podiums at Bathurst, it's got a lot of good racing history," Anderson said.
"I think it's great having done the deal and we can't wait to get it on the track because Walkinshaw has one of the best engines in the Supercars paddock.
"Erebus use their motors, there are a lot of teams they lease out to, so I think it should be pretty good."
With the new chassis, proven motor and engineering know-how of De Borre, the Anderson Motorsport Commodore has the potential to be near the front of grid.
On top of that, Anderson Motorsport has secured Dubbo 19-year-old Tyler Everingham as driver.

Last season Everingham won the Mike Kable Young Gun Award after placing sixth in the Super2 series.
"Tyler, he's young enough, he's determined enough, he's a very talented driver, so I'm very happy to have him as part of the team and hopefully with everything we are going to put in his hands, he will be able to deliver race wins, podiums and fight for the championship really," Anderson said.
"Being a local, living in Dubbo, anything we need to do with the car we can get him to Bathurst and scale things in."
