NSW TrainLink is continuing to provide all train and coach services and chief executive Pete Allaway said measures were being implemented to support the health and safety of employees and customers.
Among the measures is additional cleaning of all trains, with increased cleaning of hard surfaces at high-traffic areas, including on long-haul transport.
There is also staggered seating on regional coach and train services to ensure that social distancing is observed, while staff are keeping a 1.5-metre distance from each other and customers where possible.
Mr Allaway also said there have been changes to the buffet service.
This includes all hot food now being heated at the time of service, only selling pre-packaged items, not accepting reusable cups, and no longer offering water fountains on regional trains.
"NSW TrainLink is constantly reviewing the health and safety measures on our services and we are working with government agencies to ensure we can continue to provide these important community services safely and effectively," Mr Allaway said.
People are also being asked to avoid travel where possible to limit the spread of the virus.
Member for Bathurst Paul Toole recently gave a similar message when talking about repairs to the Blue Mountain Line.
"We're also reminding people that they should only travel if it is essential, and to practice good hygiene and social distancing if they must travel," he said.
