The bridge, on Ophir Road in Dunkeld almost 12 kilometres west of Bathurst, will be replaced by a new 30 metres by eight metres bridge, with improvements being made to the road approaches on either side.
Bathurst MP and Minister for Regional Transport and Roads, Paul Toole, said the project is a part of NSW Government's commitment to upgrading regional roads.
"We going to see $650,000 to go towards Evans Plains Creek Bridge and that bridge is going to be replaced and it'll see improvement to the road approaching it," he said.
"This is going to see the bridge improved. We will be working with Bathurst Regional Council and it's about getting money out the door and out into regional areas to improve our roads.
"We know that when people in the country get behind the wheel, they have to travel longer distances. It's important that they have safe roads to travel on."
The work is still in the planning stages and work would not be expected to start until the end of the next financial year.
The funding of $650,000 is from the NSW Government's $86 million Fixing Country Roads program, which is being invested into road, bridge and truck wash projects across regional parts of the state.
"The NSW Government is investing in projects to boost freight efficiency across the regions, and improve access and connectivity across the state road network," Mr Toole said.
"Fixing Country Roads has already helped regional NSW councils deliver more than 300 projects to date, with the most recent funding for the Bathurst region, adding to that list.
"With funding coming from Restart NSW, these projects will ultimately contribute to the growth of their local economies by improving freight delivery, journey times and safety outcomes."
