From 11.30am the restaurant, situated upstairs from the Oxford Hotel, commenced dine-in service for up to 10 patrons in 90-minute windows.

Among the first to arrive was Kaitlyn Whyte and her mother, Kathy, who were excited to be back in a restaurant setting after significant time away.

"We were excited for this all morning," Kaitlyn said.

"The times for each seating came up online, and I quickly got in touch with Kaitlyn and suggested we should go for lunch," Kathy added.

Both Kaitlyn and Kathy have ordered takeaway from B Town on a couple of occasions, but agree it doesn't quite beat the dine-in experience.

"It's nice to be able to get out of the house and share a good meal together," Kaitlyn said.

"When you order takeaway, it's just not the same," Kathy added.

Both agree the gradual ease of restrictions is the right way to go rather than a full-blown return to normalcy.

"Opening for 10 people at a time is great approach as it gives group of two or three people the chance to catch up somewhere outside home or the shops," Kaitlyn said.

"As long as we follow the rules and resist the urge to rush back to normal, these eases to restrictions should be a good thing for the community."

The Whyte's views were shared by Rodney Wirth, who took his mother, Norma, out to lunch for tasty cuts of steaks.

"It would only take a few poor decisions from certain individuals to send us back to square one as far as restrictions are concerned," Mr Wirth said.

Mr Wirth, who cares for his mother full time, said it was their first visit to B Town in a couple of years.

"We're glad we came, everything was cooked perfectly," he said.

"It's important for us as a community to get out and support our local businesses however we can."
