CARLY Elwin was a title winning league tag captain-coach, Billy Dickinson helped guide CSU to a Mid West Cup premiership on home soil, but do they rate amongst the finest Mungoes or Mungals?
That is a question CSU Rugby League Club is asking past and present players plus its fans as it works towards revealing the best Mungoes and Mungals teams of the decade.
The idea behind the voting was to use it as a way to keep up engagement while CSU's 2020 Mid West League season is on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.
But CSU president Jacob Watkin has been surprised at just how big a response the club has gotten on its Facebook page.
"It's really created good engagement from our current group of players and our past generation of players, which has been unreal. It's really taken off," Watkin said.
"We have sort of planned it so it will take us right up to the start of the season, the 18th of July when we are hopefully meant to start the season. Fingers crossed."
Currently serving his second season as president after first joining the club four years ago, Watkin has seen plenty of talented players wear a CSU jersey.
But he says the team of the decade concept has also made him aware of past Mungoe and Mungal stars as well.
"The best players I've ever played footy with have all been at CSU, I've played with some unbelievable footballers and seen some unbelievable league tag players since I've been here," he said.
"It is kind of overlooked, but there's some great talent, just not from our club, but across all the other clubs as well in the Mid West.
"I didn't know some of the girls and boys who have been nominated which is cool I guess, it gives you an idea of who played for the club and who has the best stats and who were the gun players. It is a really cool concept actually."
Thus far voting has taken place for the leading centres, second rowers, locks, wingers and fullbacks. The public votes will be collated and compared to names already put forward by past club officials.
"All the past the presidents and coaches have picked a team. We've made a criteria which is like games played, premierships won, awards won for the club, committee positions things like that and then the online voting will be put up against that to decide the teams," Watkin explained.
