Trevor Robinson's Hartley Kris ($5.50) held on for the mini-upset over short priced favourite We'll Soon Know ($1.65, Jeffrey Mooney) and Modus Operandi ($3, Rob Tyler) during a three dog dice at the finish line.
Hartley Kris has continued to give Robinson a wonderful ride throughout a great career - adding win number 21 from start number 80 on Monday.
That's not a bad effort for a dog who didn't cost Robinson a cent.
"He's an old dog but he always tries. That's 21 wins for him now and he was a free dog. I had him given to me for nothing before he'd even had a start, so I can't complain," the winning trainer said.
"He's won in town as well. He's won at Wentworth Park, down in Tasmania and in Victoria. He gets around and he's very well travelled.
"He seems to be showing he's got plenty left. He's won two of his last four. He won a free for all here a couple of weeks back."
Hartley Kris had drawn box four but became the inside runner when dogs one, two and three were all scratched from the event.
Robinson's runner took advantage of the situation, jumping out well to hold off We'll Soon Know on the opening turn.
Hartley Kris drifted wide on the home bend but held on to win by 1.5 lengths over the favourite.
The winning time for Hartley Kris was 26.14, just .12 seconds shy of his personal best over the 450m.
