The relaxation of some measures put in place due to COVID meant Eglinton members were able to conduct American round robin doubles and a singles shootout events.
All the while they ensured that social distancing, safety procedures and sanitising requirements were adhered to.
Club president Jason Honeyman was pleased to see that play was allowed to proceed.
"Under no circumstances were the players taking to the court unless we were given the okay by the Federal Government and Tennis New South Wales. The players adhered to the strict guidelines and thoroughly enjoyed the day," he said.
Head coach Rod Schumacher, who coordinated play, said it was a success.
"Even though the players were a little rusty due to lack of match play, they surprised me by playing some great tennis," he said.
"Even a more surprise was seeing iron lady Schumacher and slugger Bullock team up and turn back the clock to win a tiebreaker set 10-0 against a highly rated doubles pair in Bryan Reiri and Garth Hindmarch."
The winner on the day in both the doubles and singles events was Matt Tree.
It was a polished display of tennis from Tree, who powered his way through his matches playing some stylish, captivating tennis. He will no doubt be a very dangerous player when competition starts again.
Match conveyor Allyson Schumacher believes it's just a matter of time until the club can fully organise a new Saturday competition.
"With the new guidelines in place it has given the club the opportunity to begin preparing for a return to competition play," she said.

While the COVID-19 crisis has impacted everyone, Eglinton's committee deserves praise for its hard work in ensuring that the club's future is secure and the players safe.
To president Jason Honeyman, vice president Barry Lindsay, secretary Garth Hindmarch, treasurer Judy Smith, match conveynor Allyson Schumacher and social club president Graeme Stapleton, bravo guys you're doing a great job.
Our head coach Rod Schumacher should also be congratulated for the hard work he puts into running the Eglinton Tennis Academy.
Over the years some very good young guns have come out of the academy and gone on become top quality club players. It's a tough job especially in these trying times, but the academy is doing well and will continue to produce some fine talent under the the guidance of a very dedicated coach in Schumacher.
Good hitting.
