THURSDAY night was probably the most satisfying training session for all junior Bathurst Bushrangers members, enjoying their first run back on the field just days after the state government announced an official return date for under 18s competitive sport.

There's a lot of buzz around the Bushrangers camp and it would have come as no surprise to see strong junior numbers at the first session across all age groups.
Bushrangers president Alex Sparks said there's been added life brought back into the clubs with the sound of Sherrins being booted around George Park.
"We can go back to training this week, so we had our first one on Thursday and that was really, really good," he said.
"We had four sessions of juniors going at the one time with all age groups represented. It's a bit different training in groups of 10 but it worked out well.
I don't know who's more excited, the kids or the parents.

"The AFL has given us a strong sense that we're looking at July 19 for a season start so that's the date we're aiming for at the moment, and we're really excited to get into it.
"I don't know who's more excited, the kids or the parents."
Training is the first step towards matches, but there's restrictions that need to be closely followed in order for that transition to be completed smoothly.
Sparks said everyone has been adapting well to the changes which have to be made.
"We're only allowed to have groups of 10, and three of them on one field, so we had to open up the top field on Thursday for a group that overflowed on each of the teams," he said.
"That was really positive because given the fact it's been such a long time, having a large number of people turn up to training is a really positive sign. Especially when you think about how unsure things looked this year."
