Netball NSW recently expressed their frustration at the state government's lack of direction on when senior sport can resume, stating that the return of under 18s play from July 1 simply isn't good enough for a sport - like others - in financial trouble during COVID-19 shutdowns.
Regional Leagues are in the realm of uncertainty at the moment because they're a combined senior and junior event, where the lower divisions are often used for the district's junior representative sides to play.
Bathurst Netball Association secretary and regional league coach Angela Best said the Bathurst committee backs the letter.
"I don't think it's going to go ahead," Best said of Regional League.
"In Sydney their pushing to get it back because Metro and Premier League are two of their main events. They've got kids who play but it's all adult based as well. It's in Netball NSW's best interest to get this situation sorted for everybody.
"If they're going to let kids play then why not adults? Honestly, we're going to struggle to get all our players onto the courts. We may have to run some [BNA] games in mid-week. That's something we're still looking at.
"We've sorted what our dates will be for the season but if they don't tell us soon we'd have to cancel because we've only get seven weeks to play with before the finals."
Best said the lack of a date for a certain season start for seniors is also hurting a number of juniors.
"It's a confusing time for us because a lot of our junior players are in senior competitions as well. For instance, my daughter's not playing junior netball this year. She's 17 but can't play because she's in a senior competition
"I so badly want them to make this decision soon because we have to grade teams and have draws ready just in case we're able to go, and that takes so much time to do.
"We have to be prepared, but it's a really strange time for netball in Bathurst at the moment."
Netball NSW haven't held back in their assessment of the situation.
They initially released a statement calling for guidance on a restart date for the sport, and after the announcement of junior resumption they released another scathing letter on the same day denouncing the lack of senior sport being mentioned.
The persistence of Netball NSW in trying to achieve a result for their associations is something the Bathurst committee appreciates.
"Netball NSW have been very vocal in telling us to contact local members. I'm hoping that the government can see that they're not making the right decision," Best said.
"Adults run these competitions and a lot of us play as well. As association people we're finding it very odd they won't give us a date. We just have to hope that it changes and we get to have a senior season."
