Abercrombie House has reopened to visitors. The landmark historic home on Ophir Road will open every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am to 4pm and every Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 5pm. Until June 14, visitors to Mayfield Garden will enjoy access to the full 65-hectare property, which includes both the water garden and the Hawkins family private estate. Those visiting are encouraged to pre-book their garden admission tickets to ensure they can get out of their car and into the garden as quickly as possible.
Bathurst Regional Council has a heritage advisory service that operates on a fortnightly basis. The heritage adviser and senior heritage planner can meet with you on-site, free of charge, to discuss maintenance and provide conservation advice, development options, and signage and colour scheme proposals for older buildings in the Bathurst region. An extension on entries has been announced for the 2020 Waste 2 Art exhibition, with Tuesday, June 9 the new cut-off date. Each artwork will be judged on concept, quality, recycled component and sustainability, and must adhere to the central theme: aluminium and steel cans. Bathurst's University of the Third Age (U3A) has taken to online videoconferencing platforms to stay in touch during COVID-19.
