Kennedy has played all five games for the Sharks this season and will be hoping to inspire his side after it slumped to a disappointing 30-16 loss to St George Illawarra Dragons last Sunday.
Following Cronulla's local derby defeat, there were some calls for a revamped Sharks outfit, however, coach John Morris has retained the same starting 13 from the match against the Dragons.
The uncertainty as to the fitness of Matt Moylan, who played 11 games at fullback in 2019, has seen the former NSW star been named on an extended bench, with his progress to be monitored throughout the training week.
The Sharks have won just one game this year, that win coming after a 26-16 defeat of North Queensland Cowboys in round five.
Kennedy has started at fullback in all of Cronulla's previous five games and he scored his first NRL try in the Sharks' 28-16 loss to the West Tigers in round three, the first round of the competition after an almost two month absence due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The St Pat's junior played his first game of NRL back in round six of 2019, a 24-20 win against Penrith Panthers at Endeavour Field.
All up, he's played seven games for the Sharks, all them at fullback, with this Sunday's match to be his eighth NRL career match.
He previously played for Cronulla's NSW Cup feeder side Newtown, before getting his first NRL call-up.
