The start of the Bathurst junior rugby league calendar was pushed back after the outbreak of the coronavirus back in March, but after the easing of restrictions, it's likely Eglinton juniors will return to the paddock from July 18.
Club president Marc Holman said there's a good feeling at the club.
"Like everyone we've spoken to, they're super excited and the kids are happy," he said.
"Everyone is keen to get back to it. I think everyone has been hanging out a little bit and it's good for the little kids to get out and go for a run around."
A draw is yet to be finalised on, however, Holman believes the competitive season will run for eight weeks, with two weeks for finals.
The under 6s-9s Eglinton juniors will compete in their mini cluster with clubs from Lithgow, Wallerawang and Oberon, as well as with local clubs Panthers and St Pat's.
Under 10s and above will follow the Group 10 draw.
While the club hasn't return to training just yet, Holman said players and officials are keen to return as soon as possible.
"We haven't commenced training as of yet," he said.
"We're trying to make sure we've got all the procedures in place with COVID.
"At the moment, CRL and the Group are allowing us to have 20 people per team at training, including coaching staff.
"We haven't kicked anything off as yet, but I think other clubs are starting to now.
"We'll be starting training in next few weeks, but we've still got to maintain social distancing. It's kinda hard because you can't do any contact training at the moment. After July 1, we can go back to that."
Holman said the club is keen to return back to normal.
"We're all keen. It's all crossing the t's and dotting the i's at the moment, doing all the formal stuff with the COVID restrictions that we have to follow," he said.
"We still have to do temperature checks for the kids when they enter the field.
"You've got to register when they're in and out. There's a bit more organising before we get back on the paddock, but we're trying to get that formalised sooner rather than later."
While junior rugby league is expected to played across the Group 10 region, the premier league, first division and league tag competitions were scrapped last week.
Since then, Group 11 has followed suit, while the Woodbridge Cup has done the same.
A decision is yet to be made about the Mid West League competition, although president Dallas Booth is keen for it to proceed.
