Unity, featuring Isaac Cove [vocals], Darcy Roberts [guitar], Alex Jonker [bass] and Gus Fogo [drums], have continued to hone their sound during the lockdown, and have a few original tunes in the works.
"I tend to write a lot of the lyrics, Alex writes a lot of the riffs and we just mix it all together," Darcy said.
"Isaac reworks a lot of the lyrics and melodies to suit his voice and Gus weaves around us with his inventive drum riffs."
The band is heavily inspired by classic rock bands [Led Zeppelin in particular] but also enjoy more contemporary acts such as Oasis, Wolfmother and The Black Keys.
As the band's vocalist, Isaac said he extends his personality to suit the role.
"You've got to pull on your own emotions sometimes, get a bit frustrated and just belt it out," he said.
Gus, who has a background in jazz and core drumming, said the medium of a rock band has been an interesting learning curve.
"I started off with a bass drum strapped to my stomach in The Scots School's pipe and drum band, so the 'rock' thing has been a big change," he said.
"My drum riffs never stay the same, and they improve as I get better."
The group got together initially through a shared love of cricket, with Darcy, Isaac, Alex and Gus's brother all playing the sport for Scots All Saints College.
They have already played a number of gigs, including an Australia Day set at the O'Connell Hotel and the Local Emerging Artist Program [LEAP] Band Night at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre [BMEC] in February.
"We're hoping to get enough songs together to eventually record an album," Darcy said.
"The contemporary music program at school has helped us out a lot, and we can't wait to play some gigs again, we love performing live."
