The gig will be El Guapo's first ever live music event, and Nelson said he's excited to get back into the swing of gigging.
"It'll be nice to set up all my gear again and figure out a sound that will suit the space," he said.
"I only went to El Guapo for the first time the other day and I wish I'd visited sooner; it's such a cool little venue."
Nelson's last series of gigs prior to the COVID-19 lockdown were part of a two-week tour of Western Australia, and has since been busy spending time with his family and writing new music.
"My approach towards previous music has been very deadline-orientated, but this period has allowed me to take a step back and take a different approach to writing," he said.
"I've written maybe half a dozen songs already, and it'll be interesting to head into the studio with some music ready to go."
Nelson's debut album, Man on the Mountain, was released in June last year.
The gig will get under way from 6.30pm and will be live streamed via Nelson's Facebook page.
