Bathurst's Scott Gosper, who attended the first Nationals show in Adelaide in 2018 and the follow-up on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland last year, says the committee has been working hard on the 2020 event, to be held at Bathurst, for just over a year.
He said the event is for the 1968, 69 and 70 model Holdens and will also celebrate 50 years of the HG Holden, which was released in 1970.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Approximately 270 cars have entered the event so far, and 300 are expected.
Pending government regulations, Mr Gosper said the show will run from October 30 to November 1, starting with a meet and greet for entrants on the Friday night.
"Thanks to the great support from our sponsor, Mayfield Garden, we'll be taking the cars out to Mayfield on the Saturday and displaying them from 9am to 2pm, where the general public will be welcome to attend," he said.
"We are encouraging families to come and see the cars with that beautiful background and explore the gardens."
The cars will leave the gardens from 2pm and participate in a Country Cruise observation run back to Bathurst through the villages of Black Springs, Rockley and Perthville.
Saturday night will feature a presentation and dinner for entrants, and Sunday will feature racing at Mount Panorama.
"We have permission to close the start-finish straight, and we will be running two types of racing from 8.30am to 4pm." Mr Gosper said.
Roll Racing consists of two cars racing side by side down the straight to the finish line, and Go to Whoa will test drivers' skills as they accelerate from a standing start, and stop at a designated point.
A dyno will also be set up in one of the pit garages to test cars' horsepower.
"We want our event to not be all about the cars. We're trying to get that family atmosphere," Mr Gosper said.
He said the Lions and the RFS will be helping at the event, and a proportion of gate takings will be donated back to both those organisations.
Mr Gosper said he wanted to thank the event's local sponsors, Bathurst Regional Council, Mayfield Garden, Rockabilly Cafe and Bathurst Automotive Repairs, for coming on board to make the event a success.
He said those who want more information on the event can visit the website https://hktgclubnsw.com.au or the Facebook page HK HT HG Holden Nationals - Bathurst NSW 2020.
